He moved with his family to Detroit at the age of four. He had fond childhood memories of swimming in the Detroit River and spending summers at a camp near Ann Arbor, MI. He caught the attention of the love of his life with a “whistle” at Vickers Aircraft Plant. After serving in the U.S. Army in Austria during World War II, he married his sweetheart, Rose Ann Geroskie, on July 5, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. They moved to Colorado in 1980 where he worked as an advanced standards engineer at Rocky Flats, Colorado. Steve was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose Ann, as well as four brothers and three sisters. Steve is survived by his three daughters and sons-in law: Karen and Tim Gaetzke of Longmont, CO, Janet and Cecil Richardson of Richland Center, WI, and Sally and Keith Meier of Longmont, CO; sister Helen Chapman of Michigan; seven grandchildren Kristi, Steve, Kari, Jim, Mike, Adam, and Stephanie, and ten great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his weekly calls with his sister Helen of Michigan and sister-in-law Della of Pennsylvania. Steve loved playing cards, enjoyed games of chance, and watching the Rockies win. His favorite activities were spending time, telling stories, and making memories with his family and friends. Steve spoke with the Lord daily, and his legacy of faith and devotion is a cherished gift to his family.
The family will be having a private celebration of life. Those who wish to remember Steve in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Life Fellowship Youth Group, Frederick, CO https://lifefrederick.org/online-giving
