Bob J. Akers passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Longmont, Colorado. He was born in Longmont on February 16, 1931 the youngest of five boys. After graduating from Longmont High School in 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Betty, his wife of 67 years, on April 9, 1950.
For many years Bob was the manager of Ideal Francis grocery store. Later he worked at Safeway in the dairy department.
Bob enjoyed river fishing above Big Elk Meadows for many years as well as golfing. In recent years he could be seen fishing at Carter Lake and Pinewood Reservoir. He loved spending time with his family and for a number of years enjoyed an annual trip with his family to Estes Park.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Betty, and three brothers, Max, Charlland, and Donald. He is survived by his brother, Norlin Akers, daughter, Diana (Steven) Eberhart, grandchildren, Justin (Leslie) Eberhart, Ryan (Amber) Eberhart, Nicole (David) Pine, great grandchildren Bradly, Matthew, Joshua, Natalie, Tristan, Zooey, Tennyson and by many other family and longtime friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2218 W. 17th Ave. On January 1st, 2019 at 3:00 P.M.
