Richard Aulden Roberts Sr. (Dick) of Mead, Colorado went to meet his Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Richard was 84 years old and enjoyed a full life. He married the love of his life Mamie Eugenia Malone on June 10, 1956 in Williamson, Georgia. In June of 2018 they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Richard (Dick) was the son of Benjamin Aulden and Era Bell (Owens) Roberts. He was born March 17, 1934 in Carrollton, Georgia, and grew up in Houston, Texas.
He was a veteran of the Korean War as a U.S. Marine from 1951-1954. He also served in the Air Force Reserves from 1956-1959. He completed a 4-year apprentice program in electronics with the Air Force at Warner Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. He worked with the space program from 1959 to 1988. He worked with radar tracking and telemetry for RCA, General Electric, and Martin Marietta (which later became Lockheed-Martin). Dick worked with General Electric and Martin Marietta on drug interdiction with the Aerostat program in Marfa, Eagle Pass, and Rio Grande City, Texas and Lajas, Puerto Rico. Dick retired in 1994, and he and Mamie moved to Longmont, Colorado. He worked for Valley Lab and Helix Technologies in Boulder, Colorado.
He enjoyed sailing, flying airplanes, scuba diving, photography, coaching sports, woodworking, building and fixing things, learning new technologies, serving with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion, being a Master Mason, and most of all spending time with his family. Dick had just received his 60-year pin and certificate of Freemasonry from Garfield Masonic Lodge #50 in Mead, Colorado. He was a past Worshipful Master of Brevard Lodge #113 in Cocoa, Florida, which was his home lodge. He attained and participated in many degrees, including 32nd with the Scottish Rite. Garfield Lodge in Colorado had bestowed Honorary Membership to Dick, and he enjoyed being active in Masonry for all of his life.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mamie Roberts of Mead, Colorado. Son, Richard Aulden Roberts Jr. and wife Susan of Oahu, Hawaii. Daughter, Rhonda Katrina Roberts of Las Vegas, Nevada. He had 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Granddaughter, Katrina Mourzine and husband Vassili of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandson, Zane Sutton of Ogden, Utah. Granddaughter, Kali Harrell and husband Tracy of Cocoa, Florida. Granddaughter, Jazmine Whyte and husband Jordan of Scotland. Granddaughter Jennings Knight and husband Ethan of Greenville, South Carolina. Granddaughter, Ireland Roberts of Oahu, Hawaii. Grandson, Perris Anawati of Long Beach, California.
Great Grandchildren, Jonathan, Kaleb, Zoey of Cocoa, Florida and Mollie and Elena of Scotland.
Dick was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, and two sisters, Joan Roberts and Belva DePremio of Texas.
Services for Dick will be at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home 503 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501 on Saturday July, 28, 2018 Viewing and Visitation 10-11AM Funeral Service immediately following with a procession to Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
