Raymond L Warn Jr. of Longmont, CO died on Monday September 24th 2018 at The Peaks Care Center in Longmont. He had just celebrated his 82nd birthday. Ray was born on September 1st, 1936 in Batavia, NY, the first child of Dr. Raymond L. Warn and Hermione (Wilcox) Warn. He graduated from Elba High School, in Elba NY in 1954 and then completed a post graduate year at Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ in 1955. Ray enlisted in the United States Airforce in 1957 and remained on active duty until 1960. He then was in the USAF Reserves until 1963. In 1964 he married Marjorie (Marge) M. Cavaretta and together they had 4 children: Susan, Raymond (Paul), David and Kathleen. Ray attended the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) graduating in 1969 with a degree in Retail Management. He went on to work in Banking, Retail and the Services industry for many years. Ray and Marge divorced in 1983. After a few years he moved to Norfolk, VA and eventually retired to Longmont, CO. Ray was an avid reader and would usually have 2-3 murder mystery books going at one time. He also loved baseball, particularly the Boston Red Sox and the Colorado Rockies, which made the 2007 World Series very interesting for him. For the last 9 years of his life Ray lived at the St. Vrain Manor in Longmont, where he served on the Resident Council and tended the resident library. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there and the community it provided him. Ray’s absolute pride and joy were his children (4), grandchildren (10) and great grandchildren (2 and counting). Ray is survived by his brother Peter and wife Manya Warn, of Williamsville, NY. His brother Charles (Roby) and his wife Sandy Warn of Auburn, NY. His sister Susan (Suky) and the late Charles (Bud) Futch of Virginia Beach, VA. His children: Susan (Sue) Sperrazza and her husband Carl of West Seneca, NY; son R. Paul Warn and wife Jacqueline (Jackie) of Las Vegas, NV; son David Warn and wife Shawn of Longmont, CO; and daughter Kathleen Dingman and husband Chris of Elfin Forest, CA. Ray’s grandchildren are Elizabeth Woods and her husband Brandon, Nicholas Warn, Emily Dingman, Jackson Warn, Talia Dingman, Salvatore (Sam) Sperrazza, Benjamin Warn, Maxwell Warn, Aubrie Dingman and Dylan Dingman. Ray’s great grandchildren are Henry James Woods and Emilia Rose Woods. Ray had many nieces, nephews and cousins who were all very dear to him. Memorial donations may be made in Ray’s name to the Longmont Public Library, where he probably has some outstanding late fees.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral home, 503 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501 with Lori Romero officiating. The family will host a viewing at 12:30 pm until time of the service.
