Paula Kaye Horner, 66, returned to her heavenly home on September 15, 2019 after a valiant battle with a stage-four illness. Her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Paula was born to Delmer and Pauline (Pember) DeBruin in a hospital in South Dakota on April 12, 1953. She was immersed in many school functions as a child including cheerleading and an active part of the Christian church throughout her life. She diligently and lovingly served people with severe disabilities, seniors residing in nursing homes, and children with special needs as a Registered home-healthcare Nurse. She was very successful in this and had memories of children and families who loved her dearly as a part of their own family.
Paula was mother to three children and actively sought to raise them inside the church and knowing Jesus as their Savior. She participated in the Worship team, theater productions, senior activities, and led Bible Study groups within LifeBridge Christian Church and encouraged and fostered similar activities for her children.
Paula leaned on God’s Word and promises, teachings of Joyce Meyers, and enjoyed all things purple, lavender, hummingbirds, aspen trees, and chocolate.
Paula is survived by her children Jeremiah Horner, Kayla DeLong, and Jesse Horner; her previous husband of 24 years Howard Horner, and her grandchildren Miah Horner, Ethan Horner, Kai DeLong, and Selah DeLong. She is preceded in death by her sister Cheryl Morrow and her parents Delmer DeBruin and Pauline Pember-DeBruin.
Paula’s remains will be cremated and planted with a tree at a future time. Her memorial service is taking place at her home church 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont Co 80504 on Friday September 27th, 2019 at 1pm. There will be a reception with desserts to follow.
