Donna Lee Parrish

November 27, 1938 ~ March 11, 2020 (age 81)


Donna Lee Parrish of Longmont died March 11, 2020, at her home she was 81 years old.

She was born on November 27, 1938 in Boulder, Colorado. The daughter of William Thomas and Lavinia (Andrew) Thomas.

Donna Graduated from Boulder High School.

She attended some college at Colorado State University.

Donna met the love of her life Jesse Leo Parrish, in Boulder in 1956 while she was Miss Pow Wow Rodeo Queen and he was a calf roper.

She went on to become Miss Rodeo Colorado in 1957.

She married her cowboy December 14, 1958 they were married 52 years and had 2 daughters and a lifetime of memories!

Donna and Jesse went on to manage Caribou Ranch in Nederland, and ultimately ended up ranching, owning and operating the Parrish Ranch in Berthoud, CO.  Donna also managed the Lazy H Chuckwagon Dinner Theater in Golden for 10 years, while also running a Bed and Breakfast at their custom built log home on the ranch.

They chose along with other Parrish family members to sell the ranch to Boulder County Open Space and Larimer County Open Space and retire in the Lake Valley Golf Course subdivision in 1995.

Donna was a member of the Hygiene United Methodist Church where she regularly volunteered, and was the treasurer for several years, until she she transferred her membership to Christian Promise Fellowship. 

Donna also volunteered at Longmont United Hospital in the gift shop and the information desk.

She had many friends over the years from her rodeo days, ranching days, and most recently her volunteer days.  She swam in a water aerobics class and met many new best friends there as well.

She loved spring, loved flowers, and loved painting.  Many pictures hung in her home of paintings she did over the years. 

Her other big love was of course her family.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Laurie Parrish Meyer in 2003, and her beloved Jesse Leo Parrish in 2010, and most recently her sister Ruth Anderson in 2019.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy Hart of Golden, and her grandchildren, Jesse, Amanda and Randall Hart all of Golden.  Her sister Stella Sprague of Longmont, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be scheduled and announced later to be held at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Home.
