David Volpe was escorted into the arms of our beloved Jesus by the Angel Express on October 4,2018. David Volpe was born on October5, 1944 in Milford, Massachusetts to David and Dora Mazzini Volpe. David leaves behind his wife, Gin Stecker Volpe, step-son Richard Stecker, granddaughter Arianne (Zach Perez and boys) daughter, Christina and an adopted daughter, Vicky Gilmer and family , as well as many nieces and nephews, his very special church family and his many police officer buddies. All of whom he dearly loved.
David was preceded in death by his parents, son David Volpe III, and sister Bunny Fontaine.
David is a veteran of the USMC. Perhaps David is best known for his twenty-seven-year career as a police officer with the Greeley Police Department. During his career as a police officer, David was instrumental in developing the Santa Cop program for police departments all over the country. David will be remembered for his loving, kind and generous heart of gold He gave the best bear hugs in the world
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Vicky Gilmer and the wonderful staff at Fairacres, MCR, and North Colorado Rehabilitation Center for their loving care during David’s inpatient care at each of these facilities.
David’s unselfish wish was to donate his body to Medical Science.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Greeley Crossroads Church Benevolence Fund which will be used to help our families. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 12 at 1:00 P.M.at Crossroads Church 1091 10th Avenue.
