Norma Annetta Arnold

1936 ~ 2021 (age 85)


Norma Annetta Edmondson Arnold of Longmont passed away December 13, 2021 at The Bridge Assisted Living facility at Longmont. She was born February 21, 1936, at her family’s farm home outside of Clio, Iowa – her parents were Doyle K. Edmondson and Olive Statton Edmondson. She attended eight years of country school and graduated from Allerton, Iowa high school as valedictorian of the class of 1953. She attended one year of college at Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College in Kirksville, Missouri.

She married William Harold Arnold on September 18, 1954, in Dodge City, Kansas. This marriage created four wonderful and talented children, Nicki, Kenny, Teresa, and Debbi – her life’s greatest accomplishments. After her union with William ended in 1977, she graduated from Aims Community College with an associate accounting degree. She was employed for over 35 years at a CPA firm in Longmont. She loved to work and to play and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 Prior to her illness, she was in two golf leagues, bridge club, and enjoyed playing Words with Friends. She was a life master duplicate bridge player and her favorite pastime was golf. She even had a hole in one at Sunset golf course in 2002 on the 9th hole.

In 1989, Wendell Eugene Beavers, became her life companion until he passed away in December of 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Loris Edmondson and Olin Edmondson, sister in law: Jean Edmondson (Loris). She is survived by her children: Nicki Arnold of Longmont, CO, Kenny (Michelle) Arnold of Windsor, CO, Teresa (Dan) Castor, Arvada, CO, and Debbi (Guy) Gardner of Colorado Springs, CO, Sam Beavers, Iowa and Bill (Cheryl) Beavers, Missouri; grandchildren, Tyler (Megan) Arnold, TX, Jordan (Thomas, fiance) Stevenson, Canada, Erika Arnold, Colorado, Justin (Karly) Castor, Colorado, Devin (Allie, fiance) Castor, Colorado, Randy Gardner, Colorado, Carli Gardner, Colorado, Jessi Gardner, Colorado, Sarah (Brad) Krehbiel, Colorado & Lexi (Steve) Stolz, Colorado; great grandchildren: Jace and Hayes Arnold, Texas and Natalie Gallatin, Colorado and Aurora Stoltz, Colorado. She is also survived by sister in law: Jeannie Edmondson, Iowa (Olin).

Memorial Services and Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Club in Longmont on February 21, 2021 (her birthday) at 11:00 am with a reception following. Her ashes will be buried in Clio, Iowa at a later date.
