Janice A. Warren, 80, of Longmont, CO (formerly of Pittsburgh, PA) passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. She is survived by her son, Jerome S. Williams and daughters Jill Poleson (Robert) and Judith Warren, her sisters, Alice Hall (Alexander D.), Audrey Williams, Daryl Gregg, her brothers Billy Williams (Jackie) and Brady Williams, two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Janice was born May 11, 1940 in Conemaugh, PA, the fifth of ten children born to James R. and Ida Mae Williams of Pittsburgh, PA, who preceded her in death. She was married to the late Harland I. Warren, and was sister of the late Hugh Williams, Yolanda Ptomey, Mildred Williams, and Donald Williams.
She attended Fifth Avenue High School in Pittsburgh, where she developed a lifelong love of classical music, and was an accomplished violist in her youth who was also part of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also graduated from Harty Bible School and studied creative writing at the University of Pittsburgh. Janice was a talented writer and a voracious reader with an affinity for poetry, a talented baker, and an inventive seamstress. She worked in several fields over the years before and after marriage, including as a postal worker, a bank teller, and many years as a nursing assistant. After marriage, she lived many years in Monroeville, PA, bringing up her children, and later moved to Americus, GA where she volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, finally settling in Colorado. Janice had a love of travelling, maps, and geography trivia. She had a quick and curious mind and loved learning throughout her entire life.
Friends and family remember Janice for her gentle demeanor, love of family, and kind-hearted attitude toward others. Her resilience, her practicality, the way she lived out her Christian faith, and her charmingly whimsical takes on everyday life will be remembered by all who knew her.
