     Doris Jean Stewart, 88, of Longmont, CO died March 22, 2017 at The Bridge Assisted Living in Longmont, CO.

     She was born July 24, 1928 to Sylvester and Rosella (Dingman) Whitmer in Kidder, Missouri.

     Doris lived almost all of her life in Longmont.  Her family moved from Missouri to Longmont when she was a baby.  She graduated from Longmont High School.  Doris married William {Junior) Stewart on January 8, 1947.  Her life was filled with family and friends, faith, music and her garden.  

     Doris loved all of her family, She had two sons and was a constant positive presence in their lives. Her grandchildren were always a joy for her and she enjoyed taking care of them in her home- entertaining and nurturing them.  Parents, sisters and brothers, nephews and nieces, inlaws and others were a big part of her life.  Doris loved to bake, so cookies and other goodies were always available at her house.  She loved gardening and had roses, peonies, iris and other beautiful flowers in her large garden.  Doris enjoyed sharing her flowers with neighbors and her church.  

     Her church and her worship were a big part of her life.  Doris was the pianist for several congregations for over forty years.  She was a gifted musician who worshiped through her joyful music.

     She was preceded in death by her husband after 66 years of marriage.

     She will be missed by family and friends alike.

     Survivors:  Sons, Gary (Penny) Stewart, Greeley, CO and Ron (Dottie Martin-Stewart) Stewart, Longmont, CO; Grandchildren, Kelly (Ron) Droel, Frederick, CO, Heather (Scott) Howland, El Dorado Hills, CA, Kara (Jonathan) Karnuth-Stewart, Longmont, CO and Sean Stewart, Louisville, CO; Great Grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Camry, and Halli; Sisters, Marie (Jack) Whisman, Longmont, CO and Evelyn Gamber, Colorado Springs, CO; and Brother, Don (Judy) Whitmer, Longmont, CO.  Doris was preceded in death by her husband William (Jumior) Stewart after 66 years of marriage.

      Private family services will be held.
