Madonna Ann Alps , 63, of Longmont, CO passed away at Exempla Hospital in Lafayette, CO on December 20, 2017.She was born September 15, 1954 in Iowa City, IA to Walter J .Dettwiler and Helen A. Zak.She lived in Iowa City, IA., Boulder, Lafayette and then Longmont. Her mother passed away when. Ann was 3 months old. Her sister Rosie was 3 years old and her father raised them both by himself. She was her father's caregiver for many years. She married Clifford M. Alps in Longmont, CO and they were together for 34 years. Clifford was the love of her life and her best friend. He was her primary caregiver. She worked in restaurants and was a CNA for many years. She loved caring for people. She was a good cook, loved traveling with her husband to Iowa, the mountains and many fun trips. She enjoyed doing wonderful things for her daughter Becky Jacobson. Ann taught her Aunt Martha White how to drive at the age of 70, after Martha's husband Howard passed away. Ann was blessed with a wonderful friend Ellis Poe and her nurse and angel Michele Burton Stephens, caregiver. Survivors include her husband Clifford Alps of Longmont, her daughter Becky Jacobson of Longmont, and her sister Rose Skold of Georgia, her Aunt Martha White of Longmont, cousins, friends, and the Alps Families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Helen Dettwiler, her grandparents Walter and Martha Dettwiler and Wince and Rose Zak. Ann left us on December 20, 2017, and for this we are sad, but we are all glad for the things that she stood for and left behind. She continues to live through the good memories. Celebration Service will be January 06, at Restoration Tabernacle, 1831 Boston Ave. Longmont, CO. at 10:00 A.M. With Rev. James Johnston Sr. and Rev. Gerald Brock. There will be a reception to follow at the church. Burial will be at Foothills Garden of Memory. Cremation entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services.
