Steven DillmanAugust 26, 1943 ~ February 11, 2017 (age 73)
Steven G. Dillman of Longmont passed away Saturday, February 11th, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 73.
He was born August 26th 1943, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, the eldest son of Robert Dillman and Bonnie Bell (Dillman) Beranek. They moved to Boulder when he was five years old. He married Linda (Dillman) Spurlock on April 19th, 1969. After his divorce, he went on to have a 25-year relationship with Alma Ellen (Smitty) Smith.
Steve was well known for his sense of humor.
He was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory and the El Jebel Shrine. He proudly served as the Commander of the American Legion Post 32 in Longmont and also as the Department Commander of Colorado for the American Legion in 1998-99. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War, retiring after 23 years (and 25 days) of service. Steve was a Detective and Sergeant with the Boulder Police Department, from which he retired in 1987. He was also the longtime owner and operator of Steve’s Cars in Ft. Collins.
He is survived by his sweetie Smitty; his brother Brian Dillman of Erie; his son Declan Dillman of Lakewood; his daughter Vanessa Green and his grandsons Elijah and Jacob of Hillsboro, Oregon – they knew him as “Apple”.
Memorial services will be held at 10AM Saturday, March 18th, at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel in Longmont, with American Legion Post #32 presenting honors. A reception at the American Legion will follow. Steve will be interred at Ft Logan National Cemetery,Staging Area A, at 10:00 am, Monday, March 20, 2017.
