Gerhard "Jerry" MuellerJanuary 1, 1954 ~ May 13, 2017 (age 63)
Gerhard “Jerry” Mueller passed away at Boulder Foothills Hospital on Saturday May 13th after a short illness. He was born January 1, 1954, to Gerhard and Joretta Mueller in Long Island, NY. He graduated from Sayville High School in 1971.
After graduating Jerry then headed West and lived with relatives (George and Ann Brandt of Boulder) while attending trade school in Denver to become a Certified Auto Mechanic. He eventually settled in Boulder and, and opened his own repair shop – Boulder Import Motors. Jerry was known for his expertise in diagnosing and repairing foreign and domestic cars. He could fix anything! Over the years, countless people have entered Boulder Import Motors to have a light looked at or a strange noise diagnosed. Many of those people came to be lifelong customers and friends who relied on Jerry and his son Drew’s expertise, and trusted them to keep their own families safe on the roads.
Jerry was known to the public as an amazing mechanic, but to his family he was that and so much more. He was an amazing father and an even better grandfather to his children and granddaughters.
Jerry leaves behind two children from his first marriage (Michelle Mueller; 1979) Amanda (Mandi) and Andrew (Drew). His daughter Mandi and son-in law Matt (Swedbergh) will miss Sunday dinners, Bronco games and simply watching him enjoy being a grandpa to their daughters Macie (10) and Elle (8). Jerry’s son Andrew (Drew) was also his partner and business manager at the auto repair shop. Drew mourns the loss of his father as well as his mentor in the auto industry. Jerry leaves behind other family members including Eric Mueller of Orlando, Florida, his wife Arlynn and their three children.
In addition to father, grandfather and mechanic Jerry was an avid fly fisherman who fished nearly every weekend in his beloved Rocky Mountains. He never missed a chance to go fishing with Drew or camping with his family. Jerry also enjoyed spending any time he could with his “grand girls”.
Jerry will be a hard person to replace in the world of cars and car repairs, but he will be impossible to replace in the lives of his children and grand-children.
