Social Services

Families approved for government assistance are welcome at Carroll-Lewellen and Foothills Gardens of Memory. Many funeral homes will not handle social services families due to the lack of funding. In most cases Social Services caps a funeral or cremation service as well as the charges at the cemetery at a mere $2500 (the family is responsible for $1000 to $1500 of the cap depending on the age of the deceased family member). In 2010, the average cost for a funeral service was $7500. That means the funeral home and cemetery must reduce their fees by more than 75%. Because Carroll-Lewellen owns the funeral home and the cemetery, we are able to absorb these discounts in order to give all families a dignified and meaningful service. Families must use both our funeral home and cemetery.
